What does Constant Employee actually do?

It answers your business phone with an AI agent that sounds like a real receptionist. It figures out why someone's calling, escalates emergencies to you, books the rest into your calendar, and logs everything to a dashboard you can open from anywhere.

Will my customers know they're talking to an AI?

Most won't realize during a normal booking call. If a caller asks directly, the agent is honest about it and immediately offers to keep helping or get you on the line. Honesty earns more trust than deflection.

What if I'm a one-person shop?

How human does it really sound?

We use ElevenLabs voices — the gold standard in 2026. Most callers don't notice anything off during the first sixty seconds, and the majority complete a booking without asking. The honest tell is a slight beat of latency — about half a second longer than a human would take.

Can I clone my own voice or my staff's voice?

On Expanded and Professional, yes. We need a five-minute clean recording, and your voice goes live within 48 hours. Standard customers pick from our curated library of warm, professional voices.

What about strong accents, kids in the background, bad cell signal?

Built-in noise reduction handles most job-site and household noise. If the agent genuinely can't understand after a single retry, it gracefully takes a callback number and escalates to you instead of guessing.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Forward your existing number to the one we provision — most carriers let you set that up in two minutes. Or port it to us permanently (we handle the paperwork, two to four weeks via your carrier).

How long until I'm taking calls?

Same day for Standard. About a week for Expanded once we configure multi-tech routing and custom voice. Professional with deep CRM integration takes two to three weeks.

Does it work with ServiceTitan / Housecall Pro / Jobber?

Yes, on the Professional plan. We write bookings directly into your CRM and pull customer history so the agent can greet returning callers by name and reference past jobs.

Scope & safety

What counts as an emergency?

You define it. Defaults for plumbing include burst pipe, flooding, no hot water, sewage backup, gas smell. HVAC defaults include no heat in cold months and no AC in hot months with vulnerable household members. Edit any time.

Will the AI quote prices or make promises?

No. The agent is instructed never to quote prices, name a specific technician, or commit to a job outside your service area. If a caller pushes, the answer is always "the owner will give you a real number when he sees it."

Who owns the call data?

You do. Recordings, transcripts, customer details — all yours, exportable any time. We use them only to operate your account, never to train anyone else's product.

Billing

Is there a long contract?

Month-to-month on every plan. Cancel any time. Your data stays exportable for thirty days after.

What happens if I go over the included call minutes?

You're billed per minute at your tier's overage rate — never blocked from answering a call. We email you when you're at 80% and 100% so there are no surprises.
